Painting before Painting

Joseph Grahame | Danni Pantel | Sibylle Czichon | Oliver Meier

Alessandro Albanese Gallery is pleased to present the group exhibition of artists Sibylle Czichon, Joseph Grahame, Oliver Meier, Danni Pantel, entitled "Painting before Painting".

Painting before Painting is a renewed declaration of the independence of painting over all other arts. A declaration made by a new generation of artists who have consciously chosen the medium of painting as the only one capable of preserving the authenticity of the intuition that through the gesture manifests itself in the material and becomes visible. Painting before painting is a manifesto of the undisputed supremacy of the "great art" of alchemy over the fraudulent oxymoron of artificial intelligence, because intelligence is synonymous with consciousness and this can never be artificial. Therefore the alchemical activity operated by consciousness on matter, which today we know is energy too, can never be replicated in the laboratory, because as Thomas Young demonstrated with the double slit experiment, any reality needs a conscious observer who can choose it and then create. Which means that nothing can exist that is not the product of our consciousness. In the end Painting before painting invites us to familiarize ourselves with the idea that we live in a quantum universe where creation is the exclusive prerogative of the conscious human being and the time will soon come when we will no longer be able to distinguish the material from the immaterial.
